We are a Community: Twitter in the Classroom:
I love how engaged our students have been with this online community tool. Our class enjoys using Twitter to tweet with other Kindergarten rooms, ask questions to specialists/ scientists around the world and to show off their hard work to family and friends. I find it a great tool to open our students mind up to diverse cultures, communities and unique educational resources/ learning experiences. What authentic learning happening! Follow me @mrskorstanje
We are Scientists: Wonder Wednesdays
![Picture](/uploads/2/1/5/7/21570120/5246631_orig.jpg)
Our students have wonderful wonders everyday but we specifically designate our Wednesday meetings to what we call "Wonder Wednesdays". I can search wonders in advance that answer our students questions or compliment the inquiries happening in our room. Our students will periodically ask to look up the "Wonder of the Day" throughout the week as well. Once we have read the Wonder Wednesday question together, we will make predictions and try to figure out the answer by making connections and using scientific reasoning. We watch the corresponding video and discover the answer at the end of the day! It's a great way to model and promote great "I wonder" questions to get students thinking about the world around them. We also like to bring the question home to our families on Wednesdays to try and trick you as well!

You do NOT need an iPad or an iPhone to create a symbaloo account. All you have to do is create an account online. Next, you can begin adding cool websites for your child to access (they will appear on a menu bar at the top of the website - our students know how to do this once you have added them). Click "Add Webmix" (look for an arrow button in top left corner) and type in "Kinderchat" (into the search box on the RIGHT hand side) for interactive games and learning opportunities (e.g. excellent language, math, science and dance websites).

Make a word cloud as a family by sounding out words together or using words around the house! We will try to using our popcorn words at school (a, at, she, is, friend, etc).
